Coby Mackin brings 15 years of collegiate coaching experience to The Fieldhouse, in addition to professional playing experience with the Durham Dragons, and an All-American collegiate career at the University of Mobile.
As a coach she began her career by starting the Spring Hill College fastpitch program in 1997. During her tenure she led her team to compete in the NAIA National Championship 5 times, was named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, and kept her team continuously ranked in the Top 25 poll for 10 years. As a collegiate head coach, Mackin holds a record of 309-159-3 and has coached 15 All-Americans, 28 All-Region players and 52 All-Conference players. From 2002-2004 she also served as Director of Athletics and Recreation at Spring Hill College, leading the university to its first ever Thomas Howell Commissioners Cup.
In 2007 she moved on to the NCAA Division I upstart program at the University of South Alabama and specialized as the pitching coach on the Jaguars coaching staff. In 2012 she helped the young program win it’s first Sun Belt Conference Championship and advance to the championship game of the NCAA Regionals.
Mackin is nationally recognized for developing elite pitchers. Her clients include decorated pitchers at all levels of college softball, as well in the National Professional Fastpitch league. She opened The Fieldhouse in 2012 in order to offer expert training to young players in our area (and hopefully spend a little more time with her own kids than coaching college softball allows!). Her clients range from beginners taking their very first pitching lesson, to veteran college pitchers still working to get better.
